Gateshead Goes Global - Music & Comedy Festival
49A Festival That Exists Exclusively Inside My Head
A couple of days ago, when the sun was shining, all was right with the world and I had a little bit of free thinking time on my hands, I sat down in my local coffee supping establishment on gateshead high street and came up with the "Gateshead Goes Global" world music festival.
Now then, lets be clear about this, the festival exists exclusively inside of my head at the moment and occasionally makes itself known in my ability to put a pound coin in the jukebox in my local bar.
The festival as it stands (subject to change) consists of a "WOMAD" stage at the sage centre on gateshead quayside overlooking the glorious tyne, an acoustic stage inside the yet to be constructed shopping complex beside gateshead metro station and a day of world class rock and roll at gateshead athletic stadium.
The (so far imagined) logistics dictate that the festival should take place either over consecutive weekends of over the three summer months - with one event per month.
At the moment the lineup is a long list of bands with connections to the noth east of england and / or extreme levels of musical talent(in my view).
The list of bands which will be perfoming in my cranium include the following:
Peter Gabriel,Echo and the Bunnymen,Ultravox,Yousou N'Dour,Roger Daltry, and manny many more......
In an ideal world I'd like the opening of the new shopping centre to coincide with a Uk tour from Cirque Du Soleil as well so that we could get the whole multimedia circus involved at gateshead stadium for a few days but that is not likely to happen, I'm just putting it out there as a possibility.

Gateshead Comedy Club & Festival
I've been toying with the idea of adding a comedy festival to the Gateshead Goes Global brand, clearly Eddie Izzard would have to be on the bill along with Jo Brand,Ben Elton,Stephen Fry & Hugh Laurie. There is day one sorted.
